Music & Theater

Festivals

Coachella Arts and Music Festival – Coachella has been setting the standard for music and culture for more than two decades. An eclectic who’s who of music from around the world performs on multiple stages. Two weekends in April.

Stagecoach Country Music Festival – From superstars to up-and-comers, Stagecoach is a must-attend for fans of the American country music song book, offering everything from traditional and bluegrass to new modern classics. In April, the week after Coachella.

Joshua Tree Music Festival – Held at the gateway to the Joshua Tree National Park, the festival is a family-inclusive global music experience. From dance-world-electro and funk’n groove to soulful global-ethno, the music styles exude nothing but positive vibes. Bi-annual: May & October.

 

Venues

The Annenberg Theater – Known for its perfect acoustics, this intimate 450-seat theater is a renowned visual and performing arts venue. Jazz, classical, comedy, and dance regularly grace the stage. View upcoming events here.

Acrisure Arena – This 12,000 seat, multipurpose arena hosts everything from hockey and monster trucks to wrestling and musical superstars. Upcoming concerts in Palm Springs include Jennifer Lopez, Alanis Morisette, Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, Chayanne, and Eric Clapton.

McCallum Theater – Live theater in Palm Springs is thriving and touring Broadway musical productions make regular stops here, including such hits as Les Misérables. Comedy, live concerts, and more.

 

Film

International Film Festival – A true red-carpet event, the Palm Springs International Film Festival has been welcoming the film world since 1990. Hollywood has long made Palm Springs their destination of choice, and the history of Parker Palm Springs is directly tied to the golden age of film. Held in January.

American Documentary Film Festival – Fascinating and thought-provoking films take center stage at the American Documentary Film Festival, including both shorts and features. Annually in March.

Short Film Fest – The films may be shorter, but the on-screen entertainment is big. Hosted by the Palm Springs Film Festival Society, the Short Film Fest features some of the best short films from around the world. Mid-June.

 

Sports

American Express Golf Championship – One of the premier events on the early season golf calendar, the tournament is held at the venerable PGA West Golf & Country Club in La Quinta. Friday and Saturday evenings include a live music concert after the golfing is complete. Mid-January.

BNP Paribas Open – Known as the Fifth Major, this long-running tournament in Indian Wells is an important stop for the very best men and women on the ATP & WTA tours. A must-see event for tennis lovers and sports fans alike. Of note, Parker Palm Springs has four terre battue tennis courts, lit for night play. 10 days in March.

Coachella Firebirds Hockey – Top-flight hockey in the desert? Absolutely. Palm Springs’ American Hockey League entrant is the farm team of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken. October through April.

Palm Springs Power – The reigning champs of the Southern California Collegiate Baseball League deliver on and off the field, offering a great baseball experience for fans and families. May-July.

 

Food & Fashion

Palm Springs Pinot Noir Fest – The grape of choice is Pinot at this high-end event. Taste your way around California’s vineyards, talking to the winemakers as you go. Be sure to take home a couple of bottles (or cases) of your favorites. February.

Riverside Country Fair & Date Fest – This gem of a traditional small-town country fair has been around for a century. Enjoy rides, games, and food vendors, all in celebration of the local annual date harvest. Family friendly and a great throw-back date night too. February.

Fashion Week – This world-class event showcases the country’s top designers and the latest fashion trends. Enjoy cocktail parties, runway shows, celebrity meet-and-greets, pop-up shopping, and much more. March.

Restaurant Week – A great way to explore the vibrant food and dining scene of Palm Springs. Prix fixe menus and exclusive special offers give you a chance to treat your taste buds to something new. May-June.

 

Design

Modernism Weeks – A must-visit for Mid-Century Modern art and design lovers. This event celebrates the icons of design, many who lived and/or worked in Palm Springs, including Charles Eames and Frank Lloyd Wright. Hosting venues include the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Palm Springs Architecture and Design Center. February & October.

Intersect Art & Design Fair – Held at the Palm Springs Convention Center, Intersect brings together a dynamic mix of modern and contemporary galleries. It showcases art and design from both local and global artists and artisans. February.

Desert X – The idea that the desert landscape is formed by the memory of water, is the inspiration for this innovative outdoor art and sculpture show. Stunning installations are scattered around the Coachella Valley creating an impactful, highly self-aware experience. Read more about Desert-X here. Every second year in March. (odd years).

 

Celebrations

Palm Springs Pride – From the classic, celebratory parade to a vibrant street festival and marketplace, Palm Springs Pride brings people together like no other occasion. Enjoy pancakes breakfasts, afternoon BBQs, and great music with friends and family in a joyous, friendly environment. June.

Village Fest – This nighttime street festival features arts, crafts, food, and entertainment. There are more than 180 vendors, and the local businesses stay open late. Dog friendly too, this is a great evening stroll. Every Thursday from October to May.
