Palm Springs is a world-renowned destination for mid-century architecture and is the perfect host city for this signature event. Now in its third decade, Modernism Week was created to “celebrate and foster appreciation of mid-century architecture and design (including) art, fashion, and culture.”
Over eleven days in February, the calendar features more than 350 events and galas hosted by organizations, museums, and societies dedicated to the craft and history of mid-century modernism. From home and architectural tours, to films, lectures, walking tours, nightly parties and live music, classic cars and vintage travel trailers, modern garden tours, and classic fashion, there is something for all interests.
Speaking of fashion, Chris Hagen, Chef Concierge at Parker Palm Springs, says the opportunities abound for exploring mid-century shopping in Palm Springs. “There are many boutiques and specialty shops dedicated to vintage fashion. Also, on the Sunday during Modernism Week, there is a special Palm Springs Vintage Market,” she says.
