Take advantage of the region's spectacular night skies

Space Out with the Parker

L

ocated far away from artificial lights and atmospheric pollutants, Joshua Tree is one of the world’s 117 International Dark Sky Parks. Summer is especially prime for stargazing; the “core” of the Milky Way is visible most nights from 10 p.m. to sunrise. New this season, Parker Palm Springs has launched an offer for guests to take advantage of the region’s spectacular night skies. “Space Out with the Parker” (from $5,571) includes a three-night stay in a one-bedroom villa with a living room, dining area, and a private hedgerow enclosed patio. Guests who book the package will also enjoy a Spotify mix of songs culled from the NASA Wake-up Call soundtrack; a two-hour, private stargazing experience by Sky Watcher Sky Tours; a kit complete with a red flashlight, portable telescope, and an iPad with SkyView star locator map; a celestial-themed picnic with treats like moon pies and galaxy star cookies; and a bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne (the French winemaker once famously said, “Come quickly, I am drinking the stars”).
