The Art of the Concierge
Parker Palm Springs welcomes renowned
concierge Steve Sorg to the property.
Our good fortune continues. On the heels of once again being named a favorite luxury hotel in Palm Springs by Condé Nast Readers, our property is proud to announce the appointment of Steve Sorg to lead the Concierge Team.
Steve Sorg has been practicing his career, or as he says his ‘calling’, for decades. As a member of the prestigious Les Clefs d’Or, Steve has held some of the most prominent Concierge posts in America, including the Hotel Bel-Air and the Beverly Hills Hotel. Other notable roles have included acting as Estate Manager for the Von Furstenberg Family and as the Personal Assistant to Prince, the legendary music icon.
As Parker Palm Springs guests are soon to discover, Steve’s talent, demeanor, and wealth of local Palm Springs knowledge is indispensable. Steve explains that his time spent in Los Angeles afforded him the opportunity to forge many valuable connections throughout the Coachella Valley. “Palm Springs is Hollywood’s second home and Parker Palm Springs has always been a favorite destination,” Steve says. “It is the crown jewel of Palm Springs luxury hotels and is a perfect fit for me.”
Steve notes that the Concierge role is ever-changing, “We are the gatekeepers and the experts,” he says. “People see us as the genie in the lamp, making things happen.” Another part of Steve’s role is helping guests feel relaxed and comfortable, but he says the ambience of Parker Palm Springs does that almost immediately. “The property is unlike any other 5-star resort in Palm Springs,” he says. “It is a private, thirteen-acre oasis with only 144 rooms. It never feels crowded here, yet there is so much to do.”
With so many exclusive, on-property amenities, many guests end up spending their whole time on the estate and Steve expects his biggest challenge may just be helping guests narrow down their choices in a day. For guests who do want to explore and experience Palm Springs, Steve and his team are connected to all that is going on. “Palm Springs is a hotbed of arts and culture,” Steve says. “Incredible live music, great dining, world-renowned events, it is one of the trendsetting locations in the country.”
Parker Palm Springs continues to remain a guest favorite and a California icon by being the boutique hotel in Palm Springs. For Steve, it is not hard to understand why. “It is a small estate with a big personality,” he says. “It is chic but unpretentious, a magical place to get away from it all.”
