The Pools of Parker Palm Springs
“The first duty of life is to live.”
— Burt Lancaster
An oasis is a magical place, where life literally springs from the earth. It is a place of rest and respite where one might meet others seeking to refresh the body, spirit, and maybe even the soul.
Like Neddy Merrill, the character portrayed by Burt Lancaster in the classic 1968 film “The Swimmer”, at Parker Palm Springs, one can enjoy the sparkling waters of more than one pool and the company and ambience that goes with them.
It must be said, a day by one of the three distinct pools at our 5-Star hotel in Palm Springs is different, in the best possible way. “Each pool has its own unique story and fabled history,” says Brandon McCurley, Managing Director. “Guests delight in a choice of pools to suit their mood.”
The Gene Autry Pool, named after the legendary, one-time owner of the property, is an exclusive destination where time seems to slow down. The setting evokes the age when Bridget Bardot defined poolside chic. Relax in a chaise lounge, sip a libation from the nearby Lemonade Stand, savor a fresh fruit kebab delivered at just the right moment, all while the breeze kisses your cheek. When it is time to refresh, the heavenly touch pool temperature will complete the circle and inspire you to do it all over again. In between, the opportunity to meet and chat with others awaits, just as it did for Neddy Merrill.
For those staying at the nearby Gene Autry Residence, there is an exclusive poolside cabana that includes a fully stocked fridge. This special cabana can also be rented by the day when available.
Another way to enjoy the Gene Autry Pool is to reserve a table at the world’s most exclusive restaurant. Mrs. Parker’s is a one-table establishment right beside the pool. In Palm Springs, outdoor restaurants are the preferred choice, but nothing comes close to this experience. This memorable evening of incredible dining is accompanied by the gentle, reflective waters of your now-private pool and the twinkling night stars, reserved just for you.
Open 9AM to Midnight, the Gene Autry Pool is also perfect for swimming under the stars (when not reserved for dining). The city of Palm Springs purposely has no streetlights so that the wonders of the night sky can be on full, glorious display. Of note, the Gene Autry Pool welcomes those age 13 plus.
At the Silicon Valley Pool, our Cabana Team awaits you. This vibrant, all ages pool, open 9AM – 8PM, was built especially for the players of the California Angels (now Anaheim Angels) by then-team owner Gene Autry in the early 1960s. At that time, Palm Springs was the spring training home to many professional baseball clubs. Here, Angels’ ballplayers would refresh and unwind after a long, hot day on the diamond.
Today, each pool has its own, custom soundscape to maintain just the right mood, allowing you to relax, escape and maybe even dream a little. Poolside, in your own, personal cabana, with a cocktail of the day in hand, is the oasis you have been seeking.
For those looking for a more shaded experience, the indoor pool at The Palm Springs Yacht Club is your sanctuary. Its crystal water is the perfect place to cool off or swim a few laps to invigorate the spirit. Our staff are always at hand to ensure your towel is fresh and your glass is refreshed.
The sun, the stars, the desert, the water — together they are a dreamy, restorative combination in the unmatched setting that is Parker Palm Springs.
